No specific discussion on Hasina issue: Verma

Pranay Kumar Verma, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, clarified that there was no specific discussion regarding Sheikh Hasina in his meeting with Foreign Secretary Jasim Uddin on Sunday.

Verma made this statement in response to reporters' questions following their meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the afternoon.

"It was a routine meeting with the Foreign Secretary," Verma said, describing it as part of the ongoing dialogue between the two countries.

"We discussed security and development issues, as well as the overall positive relationship between India and Bangladesh. We believe that our cooperation will contribute to the welfare of both nations," he said

He emphasised the mutual dependence between the two countries and the need to strengthen this partnership further.

When asked if there had been any specific talks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Verma iterated, "There was no specific discussion on that issue. Instead, the focus was on how to further advance the relationship, including under the interim government,” he said adding, "We primarily discussed how to move things forward."
