Singer Moni Kishore, popularly known for his song ‘Ki Chile Amar Bolona Tumi,’ was found dead in his flat in the capital's Rampura on Saturday. Police recovered his body and initially suspect that he had passed away four to five days earlier.
The exact cause of Moni Kishore's death could not be immediately determined. However, Rampura police indicated that his death appears to be unnatural.
Mohammad Ataur Rahman Akand, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rampura Police Station, told Jago News that Moni Kishore lived alone in his flat. He had not left his flat for several days, and it is assumed that he passed away in his sleep. There were no visible injury marks on his body. His body was taken to the morgue at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and the actual cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.
It has been reported that the door to Moni Kishore's flat was locked from the inside. Neighbours had not heard any sound from the flat for several days. Eventually, they noticed a foul smell and called emergency services at 999. Police then arrived, broke open the door, and recovered the artist's body.
Moni Kishore had sung around 500 songs. He was listed as an artist with Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television but performed infrequently on these platforms. He was primarily a significant figure in the thriving audio market of the 1990s. Some of his popular songs include "Sei Duti Chokh Kothay Tomar," "Tumi Shudhu Amar E Jonno," "Mukhe Bolo Bhalobashi," and "Ami More Gele Jani Tumi."
