BNP's Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has demanded the cancellation of the recommendation to appoint 2,064 candidates in various cadres from the 43rd BCS, as well as the cancellation of all processes related to the 44th, 45th, and 46th BCS examinations.
He made this demand at a press conference on Thursday at the political office of the BNP Chairperson in Gulshan.
Salahuddin Ahmed stated that the current interim government has issued a notification for the appointment of the 2,064 candidates recommended by the politically biased Public Service Commission (PSC), which has recently resigned after serving as an ally of the fallen fascist Awami government, in various cadres of the 43rd BCS.
He said that the decision and appointment process of the interim government, established at the cost of numerous lives during the historic uprising of the student movement, has left the people of the country shocked and disappointed, causing intense anger and anxiety among the public.
The BNP leader said that at a time when there are strong demands from various sections of society to ban the student organization Chhatra League, the decision to rehabilitate members of that organization into higher positions in the government administration through blanket appointments in the 43rd BCS is contrary to national interest and security, and is unacceptable.
Salahuddin Ahmed noted that since returning to power in 1996, the Awami League has completely dismantled all administrative rules, discipline, and values, turning the country's administrative system into a wholly subservient party institution. From 2009 until just before its downfall on August 5, 2024, the fascist Awami League government established a monopoly on power by appointing party cadres at all levels of administration.
He called on the interim government, on behalf of the country and the nation, to urgently cancel the 43rd BCS, which is considered and recommended on a party basis, thereby depriving thousands of qualified and talented candidates. He noted that in the past, the final results of the 27th BCS were canceled under similar circumstances, and a new recruitment notification was issued after conducting oral examinations.
Salahuddin Ahmed further stated that they have learned that among the 9,000 candidates called for the oral examination of the 44th BCS during the Hasina government, 3,000 have already completed their tests. The evaluation of the written papers for the 45th BCS is nearly complete. On the other hand, the preliminary examination for the 46th BCS was completed three months ago.
"We are demanding that the recruitment processes of these three BCS examinations be completely canceled to prevent the fascist Awami group's and the terrorist organization Chhatra League's cadre forces from infiltrating the state administration. If we want to make the second independence meaningful in the July-August uprising, we must resist the accomplices of fascism at all costs. We must remember that there is no room for compromise on this matter," the BNP leader added.
