A Dhaka court has ordered to send former Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam to the jail after rejecting bail in three separate murder cases filed with Mohammadpur police station in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider passed the order after on Thursday.
Atiqul was shown as arrested in a case filed over the murder of student Rafiq Hasan and was produced before the court. Later, an application was made to show him as arrested in two additional murder cases filed with the Mohammadpur police station. After the hearing, the court ordered that he be shown as arrested in those two cases.
Earlier on Wednesday night, police had arrested him in the Mohakhali DOHS area of the capital.
