Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmad Bhuiyan announced that 12 High Court Division judges will be temporarily barred from performing judicial duties, following protests demanding the resignation of judges accused of being partisan, corrupt, and "friends of fascists."
The judges will be removed from judicial work starting next Sunday (October 20), with further actions to follow in phases, according to the registrar general.
This announcement came after a meeting between Aziz Ahmad and Akhtar Hossain, member secretary of the National Citizen Committee, along with Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement.
The discussion took place at the Supreme Court Registrar General's office on Wednesday (October 16).
Following the announcement, Hasnat Abdullah said, "We will wait until Sunday afternoon."
The students left the Supreme Court premises around 4:30 pm after their protest.
