A total of 145,911 students achieved the highest-Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations across eleven education boards in the country this year, compared to 92,365 in 2023.
This information has been obtained from the summary of results prepared by the Inter Board Coordination Committee.
The results were published simultaneously on the websites of the respective boards and educational institutions at 11:00 am on Tuesday.
The average pass percentage across the eleven boards is 77.78 percent, down from 78.64 percent in 2023.
The HSC and equivalent examinations began on June 30, with a total of 1,450,790 candidates participating. According to the initially published schedule, after eight days of exams, all tests scheduled for July 18 were suspended due to the situation created by the quota reform movement. Following this, the government suspended exams in three phases.
A decision was made to conduct exams starting August 11 with a new schedule after the fall of the Awami League government. However, a group of candidates launched a movement demanding the cancellation of the postponed exams. Their claim was that the indefinite suspension of the exams due to the emerging situation had put them under mental stress. Therefore, they insisted that the remaining exams should be canceled. Eventually, in response to the candidates' protests, the postponed exams were canceled.
The education board prepared results based on the scores students received in the SSC examinations. Additionally, if there was no match in division and subject, the Subject Mapping Policy was followed in such cases.
