A fire broke out at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal on Sunday morning. Upon receiving the information, nine firefighting units rushed to the scene to bring the fire under control.
The fire originated on the ground floor of the Medicine Ward, causing panic among patients and their relatives.
Helal Uddin, Assistant Director of Barishal Fire Service and Civil Defence, stated that they quickly responded to the situation and managed to control the fire. Patients and their relatives were evacuated from the area, and no casualties were reported.
He further explained that the fire started in the room where foam for the patients' beds is stored, resulting in a large amount of smoke. Although the fire did not spread extensively, the entire building became filled with smoke. Witnessing the smoke, everyone panicked and began to run in all directions. While the cause of the fire is not immediately known, it is now under control.
