Dengue claims 9 lives in 24hrs

Nine more deaths from dengue were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Saturday morning, bringing the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 210 in 2024.

During this period, 915 additional patients were hospitalized with viral fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the new patients, 331 were admitted to various hospitals in Dhaka, while the rest were treated outside the city. 

Since January 1, 2024, a total of 41,810 dengue cases have been reported.

Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record. 

The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries last year.
