Statement of Pran-RFL on ‘barring staff from practicing religion’

Recently, a small group gathered outside the National Press Club in Dhaka, alleging that Pran-RFL Group has been "indirectly" obstructing its employees from practicing Islam.

This claim surprised many within the company, as nearly 90% of the workforce are devout Muslims. Since the group’s inception, staff members have provided full support to ensure workers can freely observe all religious practices, including prayer and fasting.

PRAN-RFL Group has ensured prayer facilities across all its locations, including the head office and factories. Each factory is equipped with a mosque and a dedicated imam, where devout Muslims can perform congregational prayers, said a press release.

The demonstration, organised by few former employees under the banner of the Baishamya Birodhi Bikray Pratinidhi Andolan (Anti-Discrimination Sales Representative Movement), lacked media coverage but found its way into social media through short video clips.

Kamruzzaman Kamal, Marketing Director of PRAN-RFL Group, said, “We are taking this matter very seriously as complaints have been raised against certain officials. Those involved have already been suspended. Following a full investigation, strict action will be taken in accordance with company rules for any offense against religious sentiments."

“On behalf of the group, we deeply regret and apologize to all our Muslim brothers and sisters across the country for this unfortunate incident. We will remain vigilant to ensure such incidents do not occur again," he added.
