Detectives arrested Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, the former principal secretary and adviser to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina; Mezbah Uddin, a former secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports; and Adnan, a coordinator of Bashundhara Group, on Wednesday.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the arrests, stating that there are specific cases against them.
Kamal Abdul was an officer of the Bangladesh Civil Service and retired as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister in 2017. He was awarded the Bangla Academy Award in 2012 for his significant contribution to poetry and served as the chief coordinator of the National Committee for the celebration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Birth Centenary.
Mezbah Uddin retired as Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on January 1 of last year. He joined the administration cadre of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) in 1993 and has served as Deputy Commissioner in both Khulna and Chittagong districts.
