Dengue: 3 more die, 1144 hospitalised in 24 hours

Three more deaths from dengue were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday morning, raising the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 166 this year. 

During this period, 1,444 more patients were hospitalized with viral fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the new patients, 441 were admitted to various hospitals in Dhaka, while the rest were treated outside the city. 

Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record. 

The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries last year.
