Police have arrested Mahabub Ara Begum Gini, a former whip in Parliament and former lawmaker from Gaibandha-2 constituency.
The Detective Branch, DB, of Dhaka Metropolitan Police apprehended him in the capital’s Dhanmondi area early Tuesday, said additional commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick.
There are two cases against her, he said.
Gini was elected the member of parliament with Awami League's ticket in the ninth, 10th, and 11th general elections. She became a whip in Parliament in the 10th Jatiya Sangsad.
