Joy, Saddam sued for attempted murder

Former President of the Chhatra League, Al Nahiyan Khan Joy, incumbent president Saddam Hossain, and 64 others have been accused in an attempted murder case. 

Ariful Islam, Joint General Secretary of Chhatra Dal, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aktaruzzaman on Thursday. 

The court recorded the plaintiff's statement and directed the Demra police to accept the complaint as an FIR.

Dhaka University Proctor Golam Rabbani, former Chhatra League General Secretary Lekhok Bhattacharjya, and other leaders-Sanjit Chandra Das, Riazul Islam, Monem Shahriar Moon, Samiuzzaman Sami, Asif Hossain, Rehanul Lavli, Sabbir Hossain, Ariful Islam Arif, Ahidul Islam Akash, Badhan Miah, Azizul Haque, Obaidul Hoosain, and Solayman Habib-were also named as accused in the case.

According to the complaint of the case, the newly formed committee of Chhatra Dal, led by Sohel and Arif, was going to meet the VC of Dhaka University on September 27, 2022. When they arrived in front of the Sir AF Rahman Hall around 4:00 pm, the leaders and activists of Chhatra League attacked them. Some individuals, including Ariful Islam, were injured.
