Indian citizen detained for trespassing in Kurigram

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an Indian national, Mozaffar Hossain, 48, for illegal entry at the Bhurungamari border in Kurigram.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, September 25, near the Bhothat Bazar in the Bagbhandar area of Bhurungamari Upazila.

Mozaffar Hossain, from Motherganj in Cooch Behar of West Bengal, was apprehended by the BGB after two Indian individuals were spotted crossing into Bangladesh near border pillar 957.

While one fled back to India, Mozaffar was caught by the BGB. The duo claimed they entered to buy medicine, but Mozaffar was arrested and handed over to local authorities.

Major Asiful Islam Siddiqui, Acting Commander of the Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion, and Bhurungamari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ruhul Amin both confirmed the incident. A case has been filed against Mozaffar for illegal entry, and he was sent to court on Thursday morning.
