Bangladesh Army has arrested six people involved in the death of Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjon in Cox's Bazar.
The arrested are – Md Babul Prakash, 44, Md Helal Uddin, 34, Md Anwar Hakim, 28, Md Arif Ullah, 25, Md Ziabul Karim, 45, and Md Hussain, 39.
Babul Prakash, who was arrested, gave a preliminary confession that he fatally stabbed Lt Tanzim, said a press release sent by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.
Two locally-made firearms, 11 different rounds of ammunition, a knife used in the murder, a pick-up truck and a motorcycle were seized from the arrested people.
According to ISPR, Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjon, 23, of the Bangladesh Army was killed around 3:00am on September 24 during an anti-robbery operation based on intelligence in Chakaria of Cox's Bazar.
Bangladesh Army arrested 6 people involved in the incident by conducting a combing operation in that area.
Babul Prakash is the main financier of this incident.
During preliminary interrogation, the detainees said that 4 of them were directly involved in the crime and the other two helped by providing information.
Among the arrested, the second in command of the robbers Helal Uddin, driver Anwar Hakim, armed member Arif Ullah and informants Ziabul Karim and Md Hossain admitted his direct involvement in the incident.
ISPR also said that the operation of the Bangladesh Army is continuing to arrest other members of the bandits.
The 6 arrested persons have been handed over to the Chakaria Police Station and the process of filing a case with Chakaria Police Station is ongoing.
