Modi, Biden discuss Bangladesh situation: Indian MEA

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised issues related to Bangladesh in a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the Quad meeting in Delaware.

This was confirmed by Indian External Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri, according to The Indian Express.

Last month, India’s Ministry of External Affairs mentioned that the two leaders had discussed Bangladesh during a phone call, although the White House readout did not include any reference to the country. At that time, Modi reportedly highlighted concerns about the situation of minorities, including Hindus, in Bangladesh.

The Quad, now comprising India, the US, Japan, and Australia, held its fourth meeting this year, hosted by Biden in Wilmington. Before departing for the US, Modi expressed optimism about strengthening the India-US relationship through his meeting with Biden, as well as his discussions with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
