Mild heatwave sweeping over country

Mild heatwave is sweeping over eight divisions and the districts of Rangamati and Brahmanbaria and it may continue.

"Mild heatwave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Rangamati, Feni and Brahmanbaria and it may continue," said a met office forecast for the next 24 hours begins from 9:00am on Friday.

Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to the North Bay.

The monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over the North Bay.

A low pressure area is likely to form over the North Bay and adjoining area during the next 72 hours.

Country's maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded 38.03 degree Celsius at Sylhet district while today's minimum temperature 24.8 degree Celsius was recorded at Bandarban district.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 15 millimeters (mm) at Rangamati district.

The sun sets at 05.57 pm today and rises at 05.47 am tomorrow in the capital.
