Shahriar Kabir arrested, to be produced in court today

Shahriar Kabir, President of the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, was arrested from his residence in the capital’s Banani on Monday night. 

Md Mobarak Hossen, Officer-in-charge of Tejgaon police station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.  

He said a case has been filed against him. He has been shown arrested in the case and will be produced before the court on Tuesday.

Shahriar Kabir was born in 1950 in the Feni district. He studied at the Bengali Department of Dhaka University. He contributed to writing inspirational manuscripts and poems for freedom fighters, which were later broadcast on Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.

In January 1992, the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee was formed with 101 members. The committee called for the prosecution of those who committed crimes against humanity in collaboration with the Pakistani army during the 1971 Bangladesh War of Independence.

In 1995, Shahriar Kabir received the Bangla Academy Literary Award.
