PKM Enamul Karim, Deputy Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry, has been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) following the cancellation of his appointment as Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet in the face of criticism.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard on Saturday.
On September 9, the government appointed new Deputy Commissioners for 25 districts, including Enamul as Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet. However, the following day, the ministry canceled his appointment.
Criticism arose after the notification of Enamul’s appointment as Deputy Commissioner was issued. Karim, the former Additional District Commissioner (ADC) of Feni, is alleged to have attempted to shield the accused in the 2019 murder of Nusrat Jahan Rafi. Before her death, Nusrat and her mother, Shireen Akhtar, approached him seeking justice. Following this, allegations surfaced that Enamul Karim had diverted the case to a different angle.
