Former Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Asaduzzaman Mia has been arrested.
Rapid Action Battalion arrested him from Mohakhali flyover area in the capital on Wednesday night. Several cases have already been filed against him, RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Lt Col Muneem Ferdous confirmed Jago News.
Asaduzzaman was the 33rd Commissioner of the DMP and also served as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Security Cell.
He was born on August 14, 1960, in Alfadanga, Faridpur. After completing his post-graduation, he joined the Bangladesh Police Force on February 15, 1988, as an Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Asaduzzaman served as the Superintendent of Police in Sunamganj, Pabna, and Tangail districts, and as the Railway Superintendent of Police in Chittagong and Syedpur.
He became the DMP Commissioner on January 7, 2015. After his tenure ended on August 13, 2019, he was appointed on a contractual basis as the DMP Commissioner for one month, from August 14 to September 13, subject to the cancellation of post-retirement leave.
On September 14, 2019, he was appointed on a contractual basis as the Chief Executive Officer of the newly formed National Security Cell under the Cabinet Division.
