Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) of Dhaka District Md Abdullahil Kafi has been suspended in connection with the killing of students and other individuals and the subsequent burning of their bodies in Ashulia, Dhaka, on August 5.
The Police Branch-1 of the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry issued a gazette notification regarding this on Monday.
“Md Abdullahil Kafi, Additional Police Superintendent of Dhaka District (promoted to Supernumerary Police Superintendent) has been arrested in connection with cases filed at Dhanmondi and Hazaribag police stations. Consequently, he has been temporarily suspended from government service as of September 3,” the notification said.
“During his suspension, Kafi will be attached to the Barishal Range DIG office and will receive a subsistence allowance as per regulations. This decision was issued in public interest,” it added.
Earlier, on September 2, Abdullahil Kafi, who is accused of burning bodies after killing students and other individuals in Ashulia, Dhaka, on August 5, was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
