Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has urged the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to prevent further tragic incidents like the killing of Felani, instructing them to never turn their backs at the border and to dutifully fulfill their responsibilities.
Speaking at a meeting with senior BGB officials at the Border Conference Center at BGB Headquarters in Pilkhana, Dhaka, on Saturday (September 7), the Adviser gave firm directives.
"Corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances," he stressed, warning that any BGB member found involved in bribery or corruption would face strict disciplinary action, including possible termination from service.
He emphasised that the BGB must operate within the law, with their primary duties being border security and the prevention of smuggling. He urged the BGB to carry out these responsibilities with professionalism and dedication.
BGB Director General Major General Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, along with other senior officials from BGB Headquarters, as well as Region, Sector, and Battalion Commanders, attended the meeting via video teleconference.
