A Dhaka court has sent Diamond World Limited's managing director, Dilip Kumar Agarwala, to jail in a case over the murder of a BNP activist during the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi passed the order on Saturday after the police produced him before the court and prayed to confine him in jail until the investigation ends.
Earlier on September 4, a court in the capital placed Dilip on a three-day remand in the case that ended today.
The Rapid Action Battalion, RAB, arrested the Dilip Kumar Agarwala from Gulshan in the capital on September 3.
On July 19, Hridoy Ahmed was shot dead in front of the Brac University during the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement.
On August 22, Shahadat Hossain, joint secretary of Madaripur district’s Shibchar upazila unit BNP, filed the case.
Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Dilip Kumar Agarwala and 157 others were named in the case.
