Another murder case was filed against former Justice M Enayetur Rahim, his younger brother and former MP M Iqbalur Rahim and 103 others on Thursday night (September 5) in connection with the killing of student Rabiul Islam Rahul during the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement in Dinajpur.
Officer-in-charge of the police station, Md Farid Hossain, confirmed the matter.
According to the case statement, hundreds of students from various schools and colleges in Dinajpur joined the anti-discrimination student protest on August 4.
Rabiul Islam Rahul participated in the protest as well. Around noon, when the protesters reached municipal intersection area and the road in front of Zilla School, supporters of former Whip Iqbalur Rahim, allegedly under his indirect support and incitement, attacked the protesters.
When the attackers fired at the students, Rabiul Islam Rahul was shot in both legs. He was taken to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital in Dinajpur where he succumbed to his injuries on August 9.
The victim Rabiul Islam Rahul was the son of Moslem Uddin from Bidurshai Maharajpur village in Fazilpur Union in Dinajpur's Sadar upazila. He was an 11th-grade student at Raniganj Ehia School and College.
Earlier, on August 19, Dinajpur District Jubo Dal leader Ruhan Hossain filed another case and on August 25, the elder brother of victim Rahul filed the second murder case and Md Riyad filed the third case on September 5, accusing former justice M Enayetur Rahim and whip Iqbalur Rahim.
