The interim government will turn Ganabhaban into a 'July-mass-revolution memorial museum' to preserve the memories of the July revolution, commemorating student-people mass movement against autocratic regime of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Labour and Employment Ministry Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain revealed the information at a press briefing at Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Thursday after a meeting of advisers' council held at Chief Adviser's Office (CAO) at Tejgaon with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in the chair.
"Ganabhaban was never turned into the people's building. As Ganabhaban was won by student-people through an uprising, it will be made open for all," he said.
To preserve the memories of the July revolution, martyrs and evidences of unjust occurred the fascist regime, Asif said, Ganabhaban will be turned into a July-mass-revolution memorial museum.
"Ganabhaban will remain the same that was conquered by the student-people in the revolution. And a museum will be established inside Ganabhaban. This decision was taken at the meeting of adviser's council," he said.
Asif Mahmud, also youth and sports adviser, said many people were martyred during the July revolution and the list of the martyrs is being prepared. The chief adviser and other advisers will meet the families of the martyrs soon.
"At the meeting, it has been decided that a conference will be held involving the family members of the martyrs," he said.
About the ongoing flood situation, the adviser said the floodwater started receding and relief distribution continues.
In association with the non-government organisations, the government has taken a rehabilitation project for the flood victims, he said, adding that those who lost their homes or affected in the severe flood will be rehabilitated soon.
Asif Mahmud said labour unrest was going in industrial areas and meetings were held with stakeholders to this end.
The labour issue was discussed at the meeting of the advisers' council and it has decided to form a review committee.
"The committee will be announced soon so the workers can place their demands to the review committee. The committee will work with the departments concerned to resolve labour issues," he said.
Asif said it has been observed that efforts are on to rehabilitate the fascist force ousted by the student-people revolution. "We think that there is no scope to rehabilitate the fascists until they are brought to justice," he said.
On the occasion of the one month of the student-people revolution, the council of advisers greeted the country's people, Asif said.
He said the council formally adopted a felicitation motion for Bangladesh National Cricket Team's 2-0 victory in the two-match Test series against hosts Pakistan.
Replying to a question, the adviser said the government is working to bring the fascists to justice and the law ministry will soon present an outline in this regard.
"The country's people will decide whether the Awami League will be able to do politics," he added.
Responding to another question, Asif said the government will incur the expenditures of long-term treatments for those who were injured in the student-people revaluation.
