Diamond World MD Dilip Kumar on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed Diamond World Limited’s Managing Director, Dilip Kumar Agarwala on a three-day remand in a case filed for killing BNP activist Hridoy Ahmmed. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order after the investigation officer of the case produced him before the court with a seven-day remand prayer. 

Earlier on Tuesday, Rapid Action Battalion arrested him from the capital’s Gulshan area. 

On July 19, Hridoy was shot dead in front of the Brac University in Dhaka during the recent student movement.

On August 22, Shahadat Hossain, Joint Secretary of Madaripur district’s Shibchar upazila unit of BNP, filed a murder case over the killing. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Dilip Kumar Agarwala and 157 others were accused in the case.
