Nat Geo features Nasim’s photograph of Sadarghat

A photograph of Dhaka’s Sadarghat launch terminal, taken by Bangladeshi freelance photographer Mostafijur Rahman Nasim, has been featured in the September 2024 issue of National Geographic magazine.

National Geographic, known for showcasing stunning images from around the globe, regularly publishes captivating photos that highlight life, the environment, wildlife, science, oceans, space, and travel. Nasim's photograph, which captures the vibrant and bustling atmosphere of Sadarghat, spans two pages of the prestigious magazine.

Bangladesh, a riverine country, sees thousands of people traveling daily to their villages in the southern regions. This activity intensifies during the Eid festival, turning the scene into a visually striking spectacle. The photograph beautifully depicts these mesmerizing moments of travel.

National Geographic commented on the image, stating, "Usually, 500 to 1,000 people travel in each launch, but during any vacation, the number doubles or triples. People take positions on the top deck and embark on hours-long journeys."

Nasim expressed his joy at being able to showcase the beauty of his country through photography, a passion he has nurtured as a hobby.

After graduating in English literature, Nasim began his career in journalism at the English desk of banglanews24.com. He later earned a master’s degree from the Department of Information Science and Library Management at Dhaka University.

He is currently serving as the Senior Newsroom Editor at the online news portal risingbd.com. As a freelance photographer, Nasim contributes to Solent.uk, 1x.com, and is a regular contributor to Photobank Lori, Getty Images, Alamy, and Shutterstock.
