Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will lead a small delegation to the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, with plans to stay for less than a week.
"He will aim to complete his tasks as quickly as possible, so the visit, including travel time, won't exceed a week," Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain told reporters at the foreign ministry.
The adviser emphasised that only those with direct responsibilities at the UNGA will accompany the Chief Adviser, though the exact dates and duration of the visit have not yet been finalised.
On Sunday, Touhid Hossain suggested that Prof Yunus might participate in a limited number of meetings on the sidelines of the General Assembly while in New York.
The Chief Adviser is also expected to attend a reception marking the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's relationship with the United Nations during the visit.
