Public servants to face music for not submitting wealth info

Public Administration Senior Secretary Mukhlesur Rahman announced on Monday that strict measures will be enforced against public servants who fail to submit their wealth statements.

“Strict measures will be taken against those who do not comply with the order. We will clearly outline the consequences for not submitting the asset declarations, including potential penalties and the actions that will be taken against non-compliant individuals," Rahman stated while speaking to journalists at the Secretariat.

He emphasised the importance of clarity in enforcement: "If the consequences are not clear, there is less incentive to comply. Even if someone fails to submit their declaration, there will be repercussions. It's straightforward. Once the letter [form] is issued, we will specify what those consequences will be."

Additionally, Mukhlesur mentioned that the ministry has formed a five-member committee to establish the timeline and procedure for government employees to submit a simplified form detailing their assets.
