The death toll from the ongoing floods in 11 districts have jumped to 52 from 31, according to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
Of them, highest 17 people died in Feni, 14 in Cumilla, eight in Noakhali, six in Chattogram, three in Cox’s Bazar, one in Khagrachhari, Brahmanbaria, Lakshmipur, Moulvibazar each.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday (August 29) in Dhaka, Disaster Management Additional Secretary KM Ali Reza provided the update on the flood situation.
The number of the total deaths was 31 on Wednesday.
The floods, however, affected 58,22,734 people till Wednesday (August 28).
A total of 4,003 shelter centres were opened for the flood-hit people till August 28 and 619 medical team are working for the treatment of the affected ones, according to the ministry.
