A Sylhet Court has sent former Supreme Court judge AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik to jail.
Judge Alamgir Hossain of Sylhet Judicial Magistrate Court-1 passed the order on Saturday afternoon, the district police’s court inspector, Jamshed Alam, confirmed.
Jamshed said the Kanaighat police station arrested Manik under Section 54 of the Penal Code and sent him to the court.
He also said the court sent Manik to jail as he is accused in various cases filed in different places of the county.
Earlier on Friday night, the Border Guard Bangladesh, BGB, detained Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik while fleeing India through Dana border in Kanaighat upazila of Sylhet.
Later, he was handed over to the Kanaighat police station.
