Former Deputy Sports Minister Arif Khan arrested

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested former Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Arif Khan Joy in connection with a murder case filed with Mohammadpur Police Station.

Obaidur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Media and Publications Department of the DMP, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Monday night.

He said Arif Khan was arrested in the Dhanmondi area of the capital based on a tip-off. He was shown arrested in a murder case filed with Mohammadpur police station. He will be produced before the court with a remand prayer on Tuesday. 

Arif Khan was elected Member of Parliament from Netrokona-2 constituency with a ticket from Awami League. He served as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ministry from 2014 to 2018.

He was a professional football player. He played as a midfielder for Dhaka Abahani and the Bangladesh national team. He has success in football.
