The government has removed 493 upazila chairmen from their respective positions across the country. The Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) will perform the duties in place of the removed chairmen.
The Local Government Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday.
The upazila chairmen have been removed from their respective positions by applying the section 13 (gha) of the Upazila Parishad (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024, the notification said.
However, the post of Koira Upazila Parishad Chairman has been declared vacant due to the chairman’s death, it added.
