DGHS launches hotline for mpox awareness

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has launched a hotline for mpox awareness, following its detection in Pakistan. 

Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, has previously been reported in Africa and Europe.

People in Bangladesh are urged to contact the DGHS hotline if they develop symptoms of mpox, which include a painful rash, swollen lymph nodes, and fever.

According to the notification, mpox is an infectious disease caused by a virus. It has spread to several countries, including DR Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya in Central Africa. 

If anyone develops symptoms, come into contact with an infected person, or have traveled to an affected country within the past 21 days, they are advised to contact the hotline numbers 16263 or 10655 for guidance.
