The International Crimes Tribunal has started an investigation against 10 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on allegations of crimes against humanity including genocide that took place from July 15 to August 5.
Md Ataur Rahman, Deputy Director (investigation officer) of the tribunal’s investigation agency, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Thursday.
He said they have also started the investigation into the same allegations filed against Awami League.
He said since the lawyer of the deceased Arif Ahmed Siam’s father filed a complaint of genocide, we have thought of inspecting the site after verifying the documents.
Earlier on Wednesday, Siam’s father Md Bulbul Kabir filed a complaint against Sheikh Hasina and nine others with the International Crimes Tribunal which was subsequently registered as a case.
The other accused are former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former state minister for post and telecommunication affairs Zuanid Ahmed Palak, former state minister for information affairs Mohammad Ali Arafat, former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, former RAB director general Md Harun-or-Rashid, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman, former additional police commissioner and DB chief Harun-or-Rashid.
