New Chief Justice pays homage to Liberation War martyrs

The newly appointed Chief Justice of Bangladesh, Syed Refaat Ahmed, paid homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing a wreath at the National Memorial in Savar around 7am on Monday.

Syed Refaat, the 25th Chief Justice of the country, also signed the condolence book kept there and left the area around 7:30am. 

Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Assistant Engineer of Public Works Department of National Memorial, said that all justices of the High Court and Appellate Division entered the memorial with a convoy of more than fifty vehicles around 6:30am. The Chief Justice entered the memorial around 7:30 and then he paid his respects there.

Syed Refaat was sworn in as the 25th Chief Justice (CJ) of Bangladesh as President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath of office during a ceremony at Durbar Hall of the Bangabhaban on Sunday.
