Nurun Nahar takes charge as acting BB governor

Following the resignation of Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder, Deputy Governor Nurun Nahar has been appointed to take over his duties on an interim basis.

The Ministry of Finance issued an order to this effect on Sunday (August 11), signed by Afsana Bilkis, Deputy Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department.

Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder submitted his resignation for personal reasons on Friday (August 9) afternoon to Secretary Abdur Rahman Khan. With the governor's position vacant, Nurun Nahar will now oversee the daily operations of the bank.

The Ministry of Finance's directive states that Deputy Governors will continue their responsibilities in their respective areas from August 11 until a new governor is appointed. Nurun Nahar will manage the governor's daily correspondence and ensure it is directed to the appropriate departments.
