Indiscriminate firing at Islami Bank, 5 officials injured

At least five officials suffered bullet injuries when miscreants opened fire during a protest in front of the head office of Islami Bank PLC in the capital on Sunday.

The incident took place around 10:15am. 

The bank’s Godown Guard Shafiullah Sardar, officials Mamun, Abdur Rahman and Baki Billah are among the injured.

Several officials of the bank said they gathered in front of the bank and started demonstration protesting the loan scam. At that time, some S Alam Group-backed officials along with around a hundred people tried to enter the bank with weapons. After being intercepted, they opened fire on the protesters indiscriminately and injured five officials. Later, the protesters chased them away.  

Earlier on Thursday, Additional Managing Director of the bank Kaiser Ali resigned from his post amid the protests.
