Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rouf resigns

Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder resigned from his post on Friday.

He submitted his resignation letter to the Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department, citing personal reasons, sources in the Division said.

Those concerned said that the Governor sent his resignation letter to the Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department Abdur Rahman Khan around 3pm. He cited personal reasons for his resignation.

In this connection, Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, the newly appointed Financial Adviser said, he was not aware of the matter.

He added that he has a meeting with the Ministry of Finance and its three affiliated departments scheduled for Saturday, where he expects to learn about this. 

Governor Abdur Rouf had not attended the office since Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh after resigning as Prime Minister on August 5.
