The government has appointed Deputy Inspector General of Criminal Investigation Department Md Mainul Hasan as the new commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The public security division of the home ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday.
At the same time, the outgoing Habibur Rahman was attached to the police directorate as Additional Inspector General.
However, Additional Inspector General AKM Shahidur Rahman was appointed as the new Director General of Rapid Action Battalion while its outgoing chief Barrister Md Harun-or-Rashid was transferred to the police directorate as Additional Inspector General.
The government on Tuesday cancelled the contractual appointment of IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and appointed AIG Md Moynul Islam as the new police chief.
