Landing at the Ghaziabad Air Base in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Bangladesh’s former prime minister Sheikh Hasina met with India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, according to a report by NDTV.
In the meantime, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has briefed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the situation in Bangladesh.
Reports indicate that Sheikh Hasina will soon travel to London from India. Before this, she resigned from her position as Prime Minister of Bangladesh and left Ganobhaban, the official residence of the Prime Minister.
A source close to Sheikh Hasina told AFP that she, along with her sister, left Ganobhaban and moved to a safe location. She had intended to record a farewell speech but did not have the opportunity to do so.
Indian broadcaster CNN-News18 also confirmed Sheikh Hasina’s arrival in India. According to intelligence sources, the Indian government has arranged 'safe passage' for the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh to travel to other countries.
