A leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal was shot dead in a clash between BNP and police on Dhaka Road in Magura on Sunday. Ten police members were also injured.
The deceased was identified as Mehedee Hasan Rabbi, Assistant General Secretary of the district unit JCD and a native of Parnanduali area.
Police said they intercepted BNP activists when they were trying to enter the town with a procession from Parnanduanli area around 11am. At that time, BNP men pelted brick chips at police. The law enforcement members later chased them and opened rubber bullets.
Mohsin Uddin, Director of Magura 250-bed Hospital, said a bullet-injured youth was taken to the hospital around 12pm and he died around 12pm while undergoing treatment.
