Six organisers of the quota reform movement, who had been in the custody of the Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police for the past six days, were released around noon on Thursday.
The coordinators, Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud, Abu Baker Majumder, Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, and Nusrat Tabassum, had been held by the DB under the pretext of ensuring their security.
Badrul Islam, the father of Nahid Islam, arrived at the DB Office on Minto Road with five others to bring his son home. "I am taking my son to our Badda home now," he said, confirming that all six coordinators had been released.
A senior DB official also confirmed to Jago News that the protest leaders had been released from custody.
