Andaleeve on fresh 3-day remand

A Dhaka Court on Tuesday granted police three more days to interrogate Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman and former lawmaker Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho in custody in a case over the attack on Setu Bhaban.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam passed the order after the police produced him before the court, seeking a 10-day remand.

Earlier on July 25, the additional chief metropolitan magistrate of Dhaka, Sultan Sohag Uddin, placed him on a five-day remand.

On July 25, the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police showed Andaleeve arrested in the case.

The case statement said during the recent quota reform protests, 250/300 unidentified people equipped with locally made weapons, sticks and brickbats stormed into Setu Bhaban at Banani on July 18 and carried out vandalism and arson attack there.

They also beat up office staff and security guards there, according to the case documents.

Later, Rabiul Islam, caretaker of the building, lodged the case with Banani Police Station.
