Quota movement: 9 including 2 univ students on one-day remand

A court in Chattogram has placed nine people including two university students on a one-day remand in two cases filed over the clashes centring quota reform movement. 

Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrates Md Oli Ullah and Juwel Deb on Sunday passed the orders separately. 

Those remanded are Alamgir, Abdullah Al Jubayer, Tajuddin, Nur Alam, Fahim Uddin, Alfaz Ahmed, Harun or Rashid, Wahidul Islam and Umaul Islam. 

Of them, Fahim is a student at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology and Alfaz is a student at Chittagong University.    

Mofiz Uddin, Additional Commissioner of Police (prosecution), said the court granted a one-day remand for each of them for setting fire to police boxes, obstructing police from their duties and a murder incident in the city’s Chandgaon and Kotwali.
