Govt offices to operate 9am-3pm until Tuesday

Government offices will operate from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm from Sunday to Tuesday, Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain informed reporters on Saturday (July 27).

Following the violence surrounding the quota reform movement, government offices reopened on a limited scale last Wednesday after a three-day general holiday (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday). On Wednesday and Thursday, the offices operated from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Minister Hossain stated that from Sunday to Tuesday, government offices will continue to be open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Banks, insurance companies, and courts can set their own hours as needed.

He added that after Tuesday, office hours will be adjusted according to the curfew schedule.

The government decided to impose a curfew and deploy troops on the night of Friday, July 19, as violence and conflict related to the quota reform movement escalated.

The situation began to normalise from Monday, July 22, when the government launched an operation to quell the violence. The curfew relaxation time has been gradually extended, with a nine-hour curfew relaxation from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday and Saturday.
