Dhaka Metropolitan Police has, so far, arrested 2,536 people, most of them are BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami activists, in 209 cases filed with different police stations in the capital.
The cases were filed over the vandalism of state establishments, violence, and sabotages in the name of the quota reform movement.
DMP additional deputy commissioner (ADC) KN Roy Niyati said this on Saturday.
He said police are identifying and arresting those involved in the acts of subversion based on detective information and CCTV footage analysis.
In continuation of this, DMP showed 2,536 arrested in 209 cases till Saturday afternoon, he said.
