The broadband internet service resumed on Tuesday night on a limited basis in Dhaka and Chattogram after it had been cut off since Thursday (July 18).
Broadband internet resumed around 8:30pm in the two cities, but mobile internet remains off.
Earlier on Tuesday noon, State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said broadband internet service would resume on a trial basis by tonight.
Considering the urgency of the banking sector, diplomatic zone, readymade garments industry, export and import, and outsourcing sector, the internet service is being restored, he said.
The state minister mentioned that overhead optical fibers on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway, burnt by miscreants, have been reinstalled, and operational and transmission lines of data centers in Mohakhali have been restored.
