Police box set on fire in Rampura

A police box was set on fire in the capital’s Rampura at 11:05am on Thursday.

A chase and counter chase also took place among police, anti-quota protesters, Awami League and Juba League activists in front of gate no 2 and 3 of the Bangladesh Television.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

However, a tense situation is prevailing in the capital centering the complete shutdown enforced by the anti-quota protesters.

Since early morning, public transport has been scarce in Rampura, Mouchak, Malibagh, Shantinagar, Kakrail, Purana Paltan and Gulistan, leading to severe difficulties for commuters, especially office-goers.

Most of the shops were seen shut in different parts of Dhaka.

Meanwhile, a total of 229 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed across the country including Dhaka.
