Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the nation today regarding the various situations that have arisen, including the quota reform movement.
Her speech will be broadcast live on Wednesday (July 17) at 7:30 pm, according to Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary KM Shakhawat Moon.
The announcement comes in the wake of violent clashes between police, Chhatra League, and general students on Tuesday, which resulted in six fatalities. Among the deceased, three were in Chittagong, two in Dhaka, and one in Rangpur. Many others were also injured.
In response to the escalating situation, the government has announced the closure of all public and private universities in the country for an indefinite period. Instructions have also been issued for students to vacate the residential halls of the universities for their safety.
Earlier, the government had announced the suspension of classes in all schools, colleges, madrasas, and polytechnic institutes across the country, considering student safety amid the ongoing quota reform movement.
